A Purpose Retreat!

The team has been working hard for many months, juggling on projects to meet deadlines. Then Marion Sumari, the project investigator, decided it was time for the team to go on retreat to help rejuvenate and refocus their efforts.

The retreat was set in a Maasai community area in Mukuru camps, far from the hustle and bustle of the city. The team was excited to be away from the office and to be able to enjoy the fresh air and beautiful scenery. However, they soon discovered that the retreat was not all about relaxation and leisure activities.

They had a proposal writing and GCP training for the team, a talk about reproductive health with maasai women (Ondoilo project),  discussion about mental health, and developing new potential future ideas for the projects.

In addition, the retreat also focused on safety at work, and the team was assigned to find a conducive environment for all at work.

The retreat also provided the team with an opportunity to explore the surrounding community and learn about their history. They had a fruitful discussion with maasai women of which at the end they asked if there is a possibility of the team to visit them next time so that they can inform other women to attend and have an ample time with the team

As the retreat came to a close, the team felt rejuvenated and re-energized and learned new skills. The experience had brought them closer together as a team, and they returned to the office with a renewed sense of purpose and enthusiasm.
