EACCR POSTGRADUATE SYMPOSIUM & MENTORSHIP WORKSHOP
The East African Consortium for Clinical Research (EACCR) Postgraduate Symposium and Mentorship Workshop took place from February 5–7, 2025, at Weruweru River Lodge in Moshi, bringing together postgraduate students, researchers, and mentors for an enriching academic exchange.
The event was officially opened by Prof. Blandina T. Mmbaga, EACCR Deputy Coordinator and Director of Kilimanjaro Clinical Research Institute (KCRI). In her remarks, she highlighted the significance of the EACCR project, the role of the EDCTP network, and the increasing presence of female leaders in research. She emphasized the importance of mentorship in shaping the next generation of researchers, stating, “We are here to mentor you all to become excellent researchers.”
Our project students had the opportunity to present their research, receive expert feedback, and refine their work under the guidance from peers and mentors. A key highlight was the training on centralized digital supervision software, designed to enhance communication and progress tracking between students and their supervisors.
The workshop concluded on February 7, 2025, with a closing ceremony led by Prof. Kariju Kilonzo, Director of Postgraduate Studies at the Kilimanjaro Christian Medical University College (KCMUCo). Master's and PhD students who successfully completed the program were awarded certificates in recognition of their dedication and achievements.
The EACCR Postgraduate Symposium and Mentorship Workshop reaffirmed the commitment to nurturing future research leaders, fostering collaboration, and equipping postgraduate students with the tools and skills needed to excel in clinical research.
