International Day of Women & Girls in Science- 11th Feb 2025
In celebration of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, the Kilimanjaro Clinical Research Institute (KCRI) made a special visit to Boma Secondary School with the mission of inspiring students to pursue careers in science. This initiative aimed to ignite curiosity, foster a love for scientific discovery, and recognize the critical role of young girls as both the present and future of the field.
The interactive session covered a range of thought-provoking topics, including inspiration to take science subjects, gender dynamics, and the importance of mentorship in research, gender-based violence, cancer awareness, and mental health. KCRI's team engaged the students in open discussions, encouraging them to ask questions, share ideas, and explore the endless possibilities that science offers.
The school community warmly welcomed the visit, with the head teacher expressing heartfelt gratitude for KCRI's efforts. "This initiative is invaluable," he remarked. "We hope to have more of such engagements, not only for our students but for others as well. Opportunities like these should not be taken for granted."
In a gesture of support and care, KCRI donated essential items to the students, including sanitary pads, pens, netballs, and footballs. These supplies were not only practical contributions but also symbols of encouragement, reminding the students that their potential is recognized and supported.
The event was proudly sponsored by KCRI and partly by Remind Kid study, underscoring the institute's commitment to promoting scientific curiosity and supporting community well-being. Through initiatives like these, KCRI continues to bridge the gap between science and society, nurturing a future generation of innovative thinkers and leaders.
Together, we celebrate the remarkable potential of young girls in science and reaffirm our dedication to creating inclusive, supportive environments for their growth and success.
